Filmed on 17/10/2024 & 28/11/2024. So, this is it for the final day of our North Lincolnshire Holiday. The stunning sunrise overlooking Cleethorpes really does set the mood for a relaxing day before all the action begins.

Its straight for the seaside and coastal town of Mablethorpe which holds many memories and great times ahead. We catch the 08:25 Transpennine Express service service through to Grimsby Town. This isn't a repeat from the previous journey can reassure you on this. Anyway, we change for the 08:40 East Midlands Railway service through to Lincoln Central. At Lincoln Central, we board and catch PC Coaches service 50 which runs every 2 hours to Mablethorpe via Lough although 50A runs hourly from Lough to Mablethorpe. A lovely and comfortable journey to Mablethorpe town centre as we spend a little bit of time sightseeing in the town, seafront and the gardens. As we walk along the golden mile, Haven holiday camp of Golden Sands is now the biggest Haven camp in the UK as its bought out other camps next door to them.

Next, we then catch Stagecoach service 59 through to Skegness. These are worked by former Stagecoach Gold Scania N230UD which still has their comfortable leather seats still in use. The scenic route which runs every 30 minutes during the summer timetable and hourly though the winter. At Skegness, we catch the 16:15 East Midlands Railway service to Nottingham via Grantham worked by former Greater Anglia/Transport For Wales class 170 Turbostar. At Nottingham, we ride the same class 170 back to Grantham before we catch the LNER Azuma through to York then Transpennine Express through to Scarborough.

Plot twist to the holiday as a month later, we head straight back to the East Midlands network for some more fun. We catch the 05:48 Transpennine Express service to York then changing for the 06:45 Cross Country service to Sheffield. At Sheffield, we then change for the 08:11 Northern service to Nottingham worked by their ever common class 195. At Nottingham, we had a good hours and a bit for the variety but no Northern we spotted but not too worry.

Next, we then catch the 10:50 East Midlands Railway service to Leicester to head to our next station of Nuneaton being freight central. At Leicester, our train was 10 minutes late due to a late running East Midlands Railway service from Sheffield to London ST Pancras. As luck would have it though, the 10:30 Cross Country service to Birmingham New Street was heavily delayed and managed to board that instead to Nuneaton. What can we say, an outstanding station that Nuneaton is for all sorts happening and surprises passing through. Due to flooding, London Northwestern Railway was running on a shuttle service between Rugby and Crewe only.

Onwards to our final station of the day, Peterborough. We catch the 13:51 Cross Country service all the way through to Peterborough via Leicester. Oddly, a rather quiet service and no seat reservations required for this service. Another freight central and intermodal traffic station with a lot that happens through this station. Even in the darkness, there is always something that is happening. Due to a trespassing incident near Stevenage, trains were heavily delayed but nevertheless does make for some more entertainment.

Finally, we catch the 17:19 LNER Azuma service through to York as we managed to reserve a seat for no extra charge. Smooth and speedy journey along the East Coast Mainline as the train continues along upwards through to Edinburgh. At York, we then catch the 19:11 Transpennine Express service through to Scarborough. This service ran from Manchester Victoria and then ran back to Scarborough.
