We all have seen the pictures and films that reflect what happened exactly in #1978 during and following the #Islamic #Revolution in #Iran. It’s easy to look back in hindsight and analyse what happened to the #Middle #East and how everything unfolded over the course of 45 years . But what can’t be relayed is the impact that the revolution had on #society. Not years down the line, but immediately, within a few months. Populations were forced to confront their #modernity and question its priority. #Governments pushed for #religious #fervour as the way forward to counter the new #theocratic big brother on the block. #Conservatism reigned #supreme. As did #sectarianism. As did #fear.
This short #documentary tries to highlight three main impacts felt by the populations of the region as they lived and experienced the revolution and its strong consequences. The film is meant to #help us identify what we did wrong in the #past and what we must do when similar situations #present themselves in the #future.
