Navy Day in India is celebrated on 4th December every year to recognize the achievements and role of the Indian Navy to the country. But why was December 4 chosen as Navy Day? It is to invoke the memory of the launch of Operation Trident during the Indo-Pak war on 1971, and as a mark of reverence to those who were martyred in the war.
