While Prince of Wales the new Monarch became invested in a number of projects throughout Britain.

King Charles spent 40 years building Highgrove House, in Gloucestershire, saying he wanted to make something that "warmed the heart and fed the soul".

Within its grounds he created a garden which he called "the physical expression of his personal philosophy".

The gardens at the estate have been open to the public for the past 25 years, with employees at the site describing the King as a "workaholic".
