Christmas comes but once a year, and for the Bickington Steam Railway, that means that its time for the 'Santa Express' to begin! Weekends are the busiest times for the BSR, and to cope with the demand, three locomotives come out to operate the services.
BSR regulars 'Alice' and D5910 put in their usual fantastic performances, but as 'Sandy River' is currently out for an Overhaul, the railways un-sung hero comes out to help.
'E.R.Calthrop', the 1974 built Leek and Manifold 2-6-4T, the scale model of the beautiful tank engines built for Brian Nicholson, has been taking part in the specials for the past two years, and this year, I have been lucky enough to be crew with the little beauty!
In this short video, we see The Leek leading a Santa Express away from Santas Grotto, and heading up the steepest part of the line, towards Trago Central.
