Cascade Mountain is an amazing hike in Banff, considered as a moderate scramble. From Mount Norquay parking lot, you start your 20 km and 1800 elevation gain adventure. From the parking to Cascade Amphitheatre, you hike in the forest for 6,5 km and from there, the scramble up to the summit starts. There is nothing too technical but it sure is a good scramble! Pick a sunny summer day with low wind. Wet condition and high wind can transform that pleasant scramble into a hazardous one! August is probably the best month to attempt that summit as you do not want any snow from the false summit to the summit. With this high altitude, the snow stay longer in the summer and arrives early in fall, the reason why August is your best bet. Enjoy those beautiful views and I hope you won't get those clouds and high wind at the summit as we did! We will be back for sure to enjoy the summit without those clouds and winds.
