Ed Atkins is one of the most distinctive representatives of a generation of artists explicitly responding to digital media’s ever-increasing ubiquity. The artist talks to Thomas Oberender, Artistic Director of the Berliner Festspiele, about theatricality, realism and melancholy in his exhibition “Old Food”, which was shown at the Gropius Bau as part of the Immersion programme series from 29 September 2017 to 7 January 2018.
