Mehmet Akif Ersoy (1873-1936) - Great Ottoman poet, author of the "Independence March" (Turkish anthem), teacher, public figure, religious educator (translator of the Koran). Mehmet Akif Ersoy Foundation for Philosophy and Arts was founded in 1984 in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. For 30 years, numerous events dedicated to the problems of culture, art and literature of Turkic peoples have been organized with the support of this foundation.
