In 1982 Werner Herzog released a film that has become synonymous with "troubled productions"... we're talking sick leads, even sicker recasts, exploitation, war, violence, dragging boats over hills, death, private militias... and so much more. A film loosely based on a rubber baron who moved a cargo ship across land to ford a river... Herzog was inspired to actually do this... except with a boat 10 times the size and without taking it apart.
Starring the enigmatic and literally insane Klaus Kinski, this week we sit down with Fitzcarraldo. Our full thoughts can be found on our audio podcast. Subscribe there, subscribe here... let's travel through 1982 together! What else could go wrong? Not like someone would have to amputate a foot with a chainsaw... which happened in the making of this film. Yikes.
