Hello, this is Bob Joiner, and creating a Trend Following Intraday Trading Strategy is what we're going to talk about in this video. If you'd like to see a daily video of the trade alerts posted in my day trading chat room, then go to: [ Ссылка ]. I post a daily video on that blog.

So, we need to get a couple of terms out of the way first. Trend-following, of course, is where you're following the trend. Intraday means basically within the day or of the day. So on this daily chart of Amazon, you can see how AMZN was a gap down today and I'm recording us on Monday the 22nd of February 2021 just so you know that. But if we move this chart over a little bit and we reveal... this is the 5-minute chart of Amazon here… and so one way you can think of it is this is the intraday activity of Amazon of this daily chart.
Let's take a really simple strategy and look at it as an EMA moving average trading strategy. So, I've got mapped out...I have a 3 EMA that shows up as the yellow line (if you can make that out) and then the blue line is EMA, 5 exponential moving average. So, what we can do is over here on the 5-minute chart we can add the same indicators. So, I can add the moving average exponential 3 and plot that out in yellow and I can also add another moving average of 5 and I'll paint that blue just like we did on the daily chart. So now we have both a 3 and a 5 EMA on both charts and can we have a bearish crossover over here on the daily chart for Amazon. So, let's take look at the three and the five EMAs on the 5-minute chart.
So, if we take that and we short the Amazon stock based on that trend-following the intraday trading strategy of the 3 and the 5 crossovers, then we could stay in that short position until it no longer qualifies. We could take the Amazon short all of the way down to here and it has a slight crossover back up and then qualifies again and it's almost about a 1% profit as a short trade.
And you could do this on any stock at all, of course. Let's just take a look at Apple, AAPL, just to look at some big names. Apple already has the 3 and the 5 EMA short in place. So, again in the morning session, when the market was pushing back up we would not want to be short Apple because of the three and the five bullish intraday that goes against the contextual move over here on the daily chart.
Now, you can augment this idea a little bit by going one step further and by looking for example at the SPY. The SPY actually had a bearish crossover today. So with the market context, you can use SPY or NASDAQ as the market context and if the SPY is bearish and individual stock is bearish and you have the intraday 3 and 5 EMA crossover, then you know you're trading within the context of both the market and the individual stock.
So that's one example of a trend-following intraday trading strategy. There are many others that you could do. This is especially suitable for the afternoon session because in the afternoon session you don't have the gaps that you have in the morning session to make this a little bit tougher to follow. Let’s say after about 12 eastern, you can start to get into these trend-following systems that are pretty easy to follow, easy to manage, and easy to see the setup. And, of course, you can develop various scans and what not to catch those trades.
