Plot Synopsis: Traveling to Belgium with his wife and mother-in-law, Rigadin wants to bring some lace back to a girlfriend he left behind in Paris. He has been promised as many kisses as there are yards. So he acquired an entire room. As he leaves the shop, he has the misfortune to meet his wife and his mother-in-law from whom he tries in vain to hide his purchase. The very happy young woman believes in a kind intention of her husband towards her and, it is more in love than ever that she takes the train to Paris by his side. But at customs, mother-in-law, who had taken charge of the prohibited package, lets it be stolen by a trickster. Rigadin, very happy to regain possession of his piece, makes the thief give up his catch. But how to deceive the vigilance of customs officers? Our friend enters a lavatory and wraps the contraband merchandise around his waist. Everything works for the best when, at the time of departure, mother-in-law notices that she has lost the precious package which had been entrusted to her. The two women go down to look for it. Rigadin follows them, but a piece of lace hanging under his jacket gets caught in the gears of the wheels as the train leaves and our hero begins to spin like an unwinding reel. Caught in the act of smuggling, Rigadin suffered, in the form of a vigorous beating, at the hands of the customs officials and his outraged wife.
