Of all the methods to generate sales in the medical industry, nothing is as powerful as getting a referral from a colleague.
Doctors may listen to a sales rep to a certain extent, however they are not naïve to the fact that a sales rep has an agenda.
The peer to peer dynamic between physicians is something that is impossible to replicate in a doctor / sales rep relationship.
The most effective way to get referrals is to simply ask!
If you have customers that you have done a great job for, be honest with them and tell them that referrals are important for your business.
If they are a happy customer, ask if they have any colleagues who may also benefit from working with you.
One referral can get you further than a month of cold calling
