Hey guys, If you are new here, consider subscribing our channel please. Today, we are going to talk about, what you need to do if you have moved in Finland recently.
1. Population Registration: The first thing is registering yourself in Digital and Population Data Services Agency (Digi- ja väestötietovirasto). So, if you have arrived in Finland recently and planning to stay in Finland more than a year; then you need to register yourself in Digital and Population Data Services Agency (Digi- ja väestötietovirasto). To register yourself you need to visit the nearest service point. Make sure to take your Passport, Residence Permit card and study contract with you while you visit the agency. While you visit the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, ask them that you want to apply for MUNICIPALITY OF RESIDENCE as well. Because if you are eligible to register in the MUNICIPALITY then you would have the right to access public health services which are way too cheaper than private health service.
2. KELA Card: 2nd thing you should do is, checking your eligibility to apply for KELA card. Because if you can get a KELA card then you won’t have to pay for your health insurance anymore and you will save couple of hundred of euro. So, if you are holding a resident permit which is valid at least for 2 years and you have a permanent job in Finland which pay you minimum 697 euro then you are eligible to apply for KELA card. 3. Bank Account: The 3rd thing you need do is, opening a bank account. You must need a bank account to handle your every day’s financial life. All you need a passport, residence permit card and proof of address to open a bank account. Different banks have different facilities and charges. So, it’s better to find more information before opening a bank account.
4. TAX Card: If you are planning to work or have a business in Finland, then you must apply for a tax card. You can go through the link ([ Ссылка ]) and apply for your TAX card and the TAX administration will send you a card by mail.
5. Public Transport Ticket: You can go most of places in Finland by public transport. If you need to go outside regularly such as in university, work or somewhere else then it’s better to buy a 30 days ticket. You can buy the ticket from R-kiosk, ticket machine or from HSL app. If you just want to buy train ticket then you can buy it from VR website and if you want to buy only bus ticket then you can buy it from the following website (MATKAHUOLTO).
6. Home Internet: A lot of problem can be solved through internet in Finland. So, if you want to have internet connection at your home then simply type “internet service provider in Finland or your city name”. It usually costs 15-20 euro per month. You can compare the price and their service to pick the suitable one anyway.
7. Applying for a job: If you are new in Finland and looking for a job then go to google and simply search “Job Vacancies in ____your city name”, you will find a lot of vacancies and just apply for that. The other popular job for students who bring an International Driving license from their home country is working for food delivery service.
