CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- County fairs in Ohio will look different summer 2015 because of a dangerous disease.
Ohio agriculture workers said they were canceling all poultry shows because of the threat of bird flu. The decision extends to the Ohio State Fair and all county fairs.
The virus has led to the deaths of more than 44 million chickens and turkeys in the Midwest, but has not yet been found in Ohio. The state's agriculture director said the ban was needed to protect the poultry industry.
Ohio is the nation's second biggest egg-producing state, and chicken and turkey farms pour about $2.3 billion into the state's economy.
