In this Budget Travel Vlog, we are in Split! The second-largest city in Croatia, the largest city in Dalmatia, and the largest city on the Croatian coast!

The city of Split was built around Diocletian’s Palace, which was built for the retired Roman emperor Diocletian. We wandered through the historic center of Split and were able to clearly see the Roman walls, squares, and temples. And don’t worry, we made sure to give Gregory of Nin’s big toe a nice rub because we didn’t want to miss out on some good luck!

Then, we took a bus to the neighboring town of Salona (present-day Solin), which is a 20 min bus ride from Split.

Salona was an ancient Roman city, the capital of Dalmatia, and one of the biggest towns of the Roman Empire. It had a population of nearly 60,000 people. We walked around the preserved amphitheater, theater, basilica, cemetery, and many other Roman buildings.
