In this video, I talk about life after failing UPSC exam.
Yesterday, IAS results were declared in India and many hopes were killed in an instant.
Hence, why should Every Indian have a #PlanB for UPSC?
Our honorable PM Narendra Modi once gave a message to UPSC failed students urging them to now make the nation proud in other fields.
I am someone who never had intentions of taking UPSC nor ever gave the exam.
But I know for sure how to grab a good job in the market.
Hence, I am highly opinionated on why students need to have Plan B for #UPSC.
And here is why I say so-
I have worked with 5000+ professionals at Global Governance Initiative and many of them joined post-UPSC career break.
Most of them had a hard time bouncing back.
Even though few came from so-called #IITs, LSR, and St. Stephen's of the world!
Most of them eventually picked skills and joined development and political consulting roles successfully but after dedicated efforts!
But the fact of the matter is job markets are ruthless for someone with continuous years of a #careerbreak.
We recently had a student from NITK with 4 year of career gap because of the UPSC. And he told me:
"Shatakshi, I don't know where to start!"
As much as Naman and I are working with him closely,
I know, it's going to him a long ride for him to get a good job!
My intention is to not demotivate you if you are a current aspirant.
Take the exam by all means if becoming an IFS, IPS, #IAS is your dream job.
But don't make it a "Sarkari" 5 year plan.
IDK if this offends any coaching center but I know for sure no coaching will not come to your rescue post your career break.
You will not realize this today but long career breaks will haunt you massively for getting back in job market.
If you have failed to bounce back to a good job yourself-
We are opening our cohort for the Impact Fellowship again to pivot into development/management consulting and product management.
~1 Million students apply for the UPSC exam every year.
Less than 1% of you will get a seat to serve our nation in bureaucracy.
I may not have taken the exam ever.
But I know one thing for sure-
That I look forward to accepting the rest 99% of you and making you a productive part of India's growth story 🇮🇳.
