A snippet of our stay in February in Fuerteventura. Barceló Fuerteventura Royal Level – Adults Only is part of the Barceló Fuerteventura Beach Resort, one resort with four different hotels (Royal Level Family / Fuerteventura Mar / Fuerteventura Castillo.
We stayed 2 weeks all inclusive. We loved the adults only hotel area and standard of the facilities. Didn’t like Caleta de fuste resort as felt a little tacky but okay if sticking to hotel.
Wouldn’t recommend staying 2 weeks all inclusive due to the food (1 week would be fine) but the all inclusive drinks were fantastic. All branded spirits, fantastic wine and cocktails… some of the best drinks we’ve ever had on holiday!
ROOMS - The suites are so lovely, large, clean and feel very homely. The beds were SO comfortable. Loved the special touch of selecting your pillow types and room scent prior to check-in! The only thing to mention is that the terraces/balconies aren’t very private and often overlook others and/or the walkways. Didn’t bother us too much though!
POOL AREA - Very relaxing but it was a little disappointing that people reserved beds so early and staff don’t reinforce the ‘no sunbed reservation’ rule. The pool bar was so close and the staff so efficient.
FOOD - We felt like this was the only let down of the holiday, which was disappointing given the standard and price of the hotel. 2 weeks all inclusive here was difficult at times for this reason. Sadly, although the hotel was wonderful, this is what would stop us from returning.
Terra Sana (main buffet restaurant)- While bread/salad/cheese/dessert options were lovely, main meal options were limited and did not always look appetising and as was not hot enough. The fish or meat options requested by the chefs behind the counter was what we came to depend on but the quality of the meat wasn’t always great .
For lunch, we often ordered off the Terra Sana lunch menu - some of our favourite lunches were sat in the bar area, eating off the menu. We loved the club sandwich and the burger - they became our go to order!
We tried all of the other restaurants available, apart from from the buffets in the Mar and Castillo hotels, but were still disappointed. All the other dining options are buffet style or set menus.
La Perlita worth visiting for lunch but gets very busy! We visited Le Ancla (family royal level buffet) for dinner at 8pm and it was lovely and quiet compared to the busyness adults buffet. We had breakfast here once as well and sat outside and enjoyed the outlook over the marina.
I wouldn’t recommend the Mexican, It is just another buffet and on the next night we had a Mexican night in the main buffet. We went to Rodezio (Brazilian) twice as we loved the concept of meat coming round on trollies, and it felt like a change from the buffet.
We got two meal vouchers for the Japanese and Italian (more al a carte) restaurants. They were ok but no choice on what food you got, the service was slow and so wouldn’t pay to go.
ENTERTAINMENT - Andreas the Adults only animation team was great. Aqua fit/ relaxation classes were great. There was also yoga etc everyday overlooking the beach. I loved the ceramics class which was free too!
Would recommend hiring a car from reception for one day to visit correlejo dunes and el Cotillo! So easy and cheap to rent and nice to get out of Caleta de fuste.
The live music in the royal level was a lovely touch every night. We liked the green bar entertainment space at The Mar but some of the entertainment acts were low-quality and underwhelming. We however loved the circus and went to watch it in both the sports bar and the Mar.
