The 2024 Isuzu D-Max is one of the hottest utes on the Australian market today, winning over plenty of buyers, so much so that it's third only to the market-leading Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger when it comes to segment sales. Needless to say, it's doing big numbers.
So, what is all the fuss about? Well, the answer is partly the D-Max's fuss-free approach to tradie-focused motoring. But does that mean it's actually good? Well, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Mark Oastler has spent three months living with its SX Crew Cab Chassis High Ride variant to find out.
Specifically, he's been piloting the 1.9-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, which should prove very interesting in the face of the D-Max's well-loved 3.0-litre unit. Either way, there's plenty to unpack here, from pricing and features to practicality and safety. Buckle up!
