Specific Gravity Test of Soil
The value of specific gravity indicates density of soil with respect to density of water. It is a laboratory method in which a density bottle with a stopper with a hole is used to determine the specific gravity of soil particles. Most of the time, a 50-ml density bottle is used in the test.
