Antifreeze poisoning in cats ((also known as ethylene glycol) must be one of the most serious common pet poisons seen in cats. In this video I discuss why this is, what signs and symptoms to look for, how much antifreeze will kill a cat and just what the prognosis is, how likely they are to survive.
One of the big problems with antifreeze is that it is actually attractive to both cats and dogs. Cats though are 3 times more sensitive to poisoning and, because they are also small, can easily end up consuming a deadly amount.
If you know your cat has been poisoned with antifreeze then you need to go to the vets straight away. This is not a poison to mess around trying to treat at home. Cats need immediate, intensive treatment.
