When you compare Grace Under Pressure to Rush's debut album that came out 10 years earlier, you can't help but hear how far away the band has gone from traditional Rock and Roll sounds. Rush is one of those few bands that has managed to stay relevant over a very long period of time. Other bands like AC/DC managed to keep the same style for their entire career, but Rush did the opposite by constantly changing their sound. I absolutely love 90 percent of what Rush created and this album is no exception. Alex Lifeson's guitar work on this album is arguably his greatest on any Rush album. This was also the first record since Fly By Night without Rush's long time producer Terry Brown. Because of this, It has a totally different progressive New Wave sound to it, and it works perfectly. In an alternate universe Rush could have become a Hair Metal band around this time but I'm glad they stuck to their artistic guns and created this progressive 80's masterpiece.
