Learn how to stop skying drives straight up into the air by understanding the causes for your sky shots.

In this video we review the causes and fixes to the sky golf shots, particularly the sky drives.
We explain how your sky-ed golf drives may be caused by either a ball that is positioned too high off the ground or by an angle of attack that is too steep at the moment of impact.
To fix the first issue, i.e., the ball is too high, try to simply position your ball lower to the ground by pressing down on your tee a little more. Aim for no more than half of the ball to be located above the crown of your driver when you set the club behind the ball at address.
To fix the second issue, i.e., swing too steep, first make sure that your ball position is correct in relation to your club at hand. With your driver, the ball should be located forward in your stance, in line with the instep of your forward foot. If you position the ball too far towards the middle of your stance the impact point will happen as the swing arc is still descending. This is in contrast to hitting up on the ball, which is what you want to do with your driver from off the teeing ground.
Also, note that you shouldn’t be taking divots with your driver. If you are, that could also explain the ball leaving a scratch off the top crown of your driver.
