Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards celebrated World Standards Day 2014, themed ‘Standards level the playing field’ on Tuesday 14 October, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency. Ms. Donna De Four, Director Trade, MTIIC reinforced to the 50 plus stakeholders present that ‘Standards provide confidence to the consumer because they underpin quality, safety and reliability. The Government recognizes that standardization and related activities are key elements in the sustainable development of our national economy, the health and safety of our citizens and the protection of our environment’.
Also speaking at the Opening Ceremony were Dr. Puran Bridgemohan, Chairman, TTBS; Mr. Theodore Reddock, Executive Director, TTBS and Mr. Errol Rampaul, Head, Standardization Division, TTBS. World Standards Day pays tribute to thousands of men and women all over the world who develop voluntary standards for the advancement and welfare of societies. It also provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on the benefits that standards bring to our everyday lives, the market economy and to the smooth running of public affairs
