The interrelation between science fiction novels and reality is most visible when real-life technological novelties come to par with the fiction of twenty or more years earlier. In addition to its foreseeing character, science fiction is also inspiring real-life innovation. In an inspirational mid-day session, a computer engineer and author from Saudi Arabia, Yasser Bahjatt, and Dr. Karena Kalmbach, Head of Strategy and Content at the Futurium in Berlin, Germany, will discuss the influence of fiction, imagination and fear on technological innovation.
