The National Ski Jumping Center in Zhangjiakou City of north China's Hebei Province has been fully prepared for the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Games, ready to welcome the media staff and athletes from around the world.
The center, more commonly known as the "Snow Ruyi" thanks to its resemblance to the shape of a 'Ruyi', a traditional Chinese ornament symbolizing good luck, will stage the ski jumping competition and the ski jumping discipline in the Nordic combined competition at Beijing 2022.
The Snow Ruyi passed the acceptance inspection for the upcoming Winter Olympics in early October and is ready to serve the global athletes.
The center consists of two jumping ramps -- a standard one with a 114.7-meter drop for both male and female skiers and another one with a 136.2-meter drop for male skiers only. The athletes, judges and other staff members can reach the top of the ramps within two minutes by the elevator built in parallel with the ramps.
In addition, it also has a grandstand capable of accommodating more than 10,000 spectators, which will be used as a standard football pitch after the event, according to the organizers.
Zhangjiakou is a co-host city for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. It will host 51 events in six disciplines across two snow sports in 2022. Following the Winter Olympics, Snow Ruyi will be used by the Chinese national team for training and as a tourist resort.
