Thousands of Belgrade students have joined the popular protest against the socialist rule of President Slobodan Milosevic, which recently annulled municipal elections which were won by the opposition. The students have marched through the main streets of Belgrade to show their
opposition. On Wednesday evening (27/11) the protest turned violent when protesters hurled hundreds of stones and bricks at the offices of TV Belgrade and POLITIKA daily newspaper. The media organisations are widely believed broadly controlled by the government and are largely pro-Milosevic.
