In this video I show how to get Amazon reviews and expose how they are actually calculated. I also dispel myths about launching without product reviews and show it is possible to compete with highly reviewed products.
This video covers how I get Amazon reviews, how I get negative reviews removed, show you my product insert and also some email follow up templates that I have used with success.
Amazon calculates a product’s star ratings using a machine learned model instead of a raw data average. The machine learned model takes into account factors including: the age of a review, helpfulness votes by customers and whether the reviews are from verified purchases.
I launched my first product with zero reviews, I was able to make sales and eventually get ranked on the first page while still only having single figure reviews (ranking above competitor products that had triple figure reviews).
Product reviews are important and they do help with conversion rates, however, you should focus on giving customers a bigger reason to choose your product other than review score. If you have better features and a high quality listing customers should be more inclined to go with you over an inferior product with lots of reviews.
Review manipulation is widespread on Amazon so always have an emergency plan of action in case you get hit with a negative review during the launch of a product or if another seller attacks your listing.
These are the top methods I will be using to get Amazon reviews in 2019:
1) Sell a great product and get verified sales with PPC!
2) Design a personable product insert – This is the only follow up method that is 100% guaranteed to reach your customer.
3) Consider an Email follow up sequence if you have a simple product that doesn't have minor imperfections (I no longer use this method as it encouraged nitpicking)
4) Compose a list of remote contacts who you can trust e.g. photographer, accountant, distant friends etc. You can use these to get an initial couple of reviews and also to save your product listing if you get an early negative review or attacked my another seller.
5) Facebook Ads - Contact people who have interacted with your advert to see if they purchased your product, if they did ask them if they are 100% happy and if they say yes then ask for a review.
6) Ask customers that have left 5 star seller feedback to post a product review
