The best way to prevent your jeans and denim from fading is to wash them at low temperatures or get them dry cleaned. I hope this demo helps explain why.
I washed each of these denim swatches 5 times and measured the color against the control. Dry cleaning came out on top, followed by cold, warm, and then hot water.
After only 5 washes the hot water swatches lost 17% of their color which I think is quite noticeable when compared to the control.
