Bangladesh sentences Ghulam Azam for crimes against humanity

Ghulam Azam, the former leader of the Islamic political party Jamaat-e-Islami, is sentenced to 90 years in prison in Bangladesh for crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 independence war. The 91-year-old was helped into the courtroom to hear the verdict which, due to his advanced age and poor health, spared him the death penalty.
