Learn how to cut the low frequencies of a kick from your bass track using Pro-Q3 by Fabfilter.
This is also known as sjidechaining.
You can of course cut any frequencies for a more drastic effect.

So in a nutshell, place the EQ on your bass track.
Activate sidechain view to see the sidechain frequencies.
Create an EQ node, and turn its outer (dynamic) ring counter-clockwise.
Click on "auto" and then the little arrow-like button – this activates dynamic movement for the EQ node based on the incoming sidechain signal.
Notice that the incoming signal has to exceed the threshold (shown in the video).
Notice that the amount that you turn the outer dynamic ring down is the max amount of cut (dB) that it can do.
