In an exclusive interaction with ETNOW, Coal & Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi said that domestic Coal Prices are very low when compared to global prices. He added on to say that Coal India charges only Rs 800/ton as compared to 14000-15000/ton in global Market. Coal Minister further said that they wish to increase coal prices further. However, no decision has been taken yet. Richard Bay Coal is currently at $200/ton (~Rs 16000/ton) while New castle coal is currently at $341/ton (~Rs 27000/ton). If the prices do increase, this will be a positive for Coal India but negative for users of Coal- the likes of power, aluminium & cement companies.
