In this episode of The Newshour Debate, host Pranesh Roy will discuss how The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) referred to the Centre's ordinance, which grants the Lieutenant-Governor final approval over all postings and transfers involving officials working for the Delhi government, as an act of "treachery". However, the Delhi unit of the BJP applauded the action, claiming it was essential for the nation's image. The Supreme Court's ruling on May 11 regarding the subject of services, which granted the elected regime the authority to exert control over Delhi government workers, is virtually overturned by the ordinance. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Saturday that his administration would appeal the Centre's "unconstitutional" ordinance on the transfer and posting of bureaucrats in Delhi to the Supreme Court. The BJP countered that the action was required because the AAP administration was "intimidating" officers and "misusing" its authority. The Arvind Kejriwal administration, the Centre, and the Lt Governor are now poised for a heated debate as a result of this development. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. “There are complaints lodged by bureaucrats of being bullied by the govt to follow their unlawful orders,” stated RP Singh, BJP.
