My aunt and mother both have a similar top-of-the-line tilt mixer. (In my perspective, it's more of a status symbol than a useful appliance.) Once or twice a year, usually around the holidays, they use it. Meanwhile, it takes up a significant amount of space on their counters. They won't store it because it's too big. It truly sits there for everyone to "ooh" and "aah" over as we eat bakery-made bake products. What a clever phrase! You won't be able to put a pasta machine or a meat grinder in your kitchen, but would you truly miss them? Don't get a mixer that costs twice as much.
In any event, this mixer is the ideal partner for me and is quite powerful. This lightweight wonder is capable of working with dough, such as bread dough (unlike a hand mixer.) A splash guard, a variety of attachments, and a large mixing bowl are just a few of the great features. It's a sturdy piece of equipment, but it's light enough that I can keep it in my pantry for the other 95% of the time I'm in the kitchen without needing to use a mixer. It's a breeze to clean. Dishwasher attachments can be put in the dishwasher right away.
This guy is a nice alternative if you want a good mixer but can't justify paying nearly as much as a huge appliance.
