Dalit organisations have called for Bharat Bandh on April 2 following the dilution of SC/ST Act, 1989 (Scheduled Castes and Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act). On March 20, the Supreme Court expressed concern over the misuse of the Act and ruled against automatic arrest of the accused booked under the law.
