Since its introduction in 2017, Dairy Australia’s Forage Value Index (FVI) has become a key part of the decision-making process for West Gippsland dairy farmer, Aubrey Pellett, when it comes to selecting perennial ryegrass cultivars.
Mr Pellett now uses the FVI information as an independent analysis of what cultivars perform best in his environment.
The Forage Value Index is a rating system that helps dairy producers and their advisors to make more informed decisions when selecting perennial ryegrass cultivars.
It provides an accurate, reliable and independent assessment of the potential economic value of perennial ryegrass cultivars in dairy production.
