Yes -- the VA normally does NOT count your home when looking at your net worth (resources/assets) to see if you qualify for the VA Pension (Aid & Attendance).
It is true that the VA does have limits on how much you can own but your home is not counted in normal circumstances.
Even though you own your home, still check out your options.
Many veterans and surviving spouses could qualify but are rejected by the VA.
Missing out on this benefit can cost you over $25,000 a year for a married veteran. Those are tremendous benefits that can really help pay for long-term care.
Even long-term care at home, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home.
Be glad to help you think through your options if you live in Alabama.
