This is the true story of what had the potential to be one of the greatest, ground breaking shows of the 1990's; a show that could have exemplified the maturation of network Television from the episodic and black and white 1980's to the shades of grey and serial nature of TV in the 2000's.
However, it ran into four major obstacles; a souring of public opinion towards defense attorneys, stiff competition, the star's inability to get to work on time for very personal reasons, and the lack of viewer commitment because the serial nature of the show did not match viewer expectations and technology (it was ahead of its time).
The character Teddy Hoffman played by Daniel Benzali absolutely sizzled on screen in season 1. The show is my #34 favourite show of all time (despite only being 2 seasons), with season 1 being perhaps my favourite season of TV ever, and Hoffman being my second favourite character of all time.
Sorry for the lack of footage. There really is not much footage available of this show on you tube, and I no longer have this show on DVD. The fact that it was featured so little on TV promos and reels at that time also showed the networks lack of effort to make this a success. ABC was still very heavy into comedies, episodic dramas, news programs, and still had a movie of the week.
I hope you enjoy this summary of one of the great TV hidden gems!
