The Aguinaldo Shrine and Museum is dedicated to the first president of the Philippines, Emilio Aguinaldo. Located in Kawit, Cavite, the museum which is the former residence of Emilio Aguinaldo, was built in 1845 and was renovated in 1849 and 1919 when Emilio became president of the country in 1898 to 1899.

Born in 1869, Emilio Aguinaldo was a military leader, stateman, revolutionary, and the youngest president of the Philippines. He became president of the country when he was 30 years old in 1899, and was considered by some as a national hero, while others criticized him for the deaths of revolutionary leader Andres Bonifacio and general Antonio Luna. Emilio Aguinaldo was also criticized for his sympathies for the Japanese Empire during its occupation of the country during WWII. However, Emilio Aguinaldo would be best remembered for his influence and participation of the Katipunan-led Philippine Revolution against the Spanish from 1896 to 1898, when he led rebels to several guerilla warfare victories.

With well-timed battles against the Spanish in Kawit, Emilio Aguinaldo his army and drove the Spaniards out the area. This led to various other surges and battles in surrounding areas of Imus, Binakayan-Dalahican, Bacoor, Las Pinas, Dasmarinas, and other Cavite provinces. In 1898, Aguinaldo promulgated the Philippine Declaration of Independence after the Americans cleared Cavite of Spanish forces earlier in the year.
