Has always been intrigued by the Garmin Fenix series of watches, but they are super expensive besides I am not a serious athlete so hesitated to pick one up and try it. Finally found the Fenix 5 Sapphire Edition on a deal and decided to give it a go. I am really impressed with what the watch is capable of tracking in terms of activities and the level of details, the customization options along with the build quality that would put some reputed watch makers to shame. But ultimately it is a fitness tracker more than a smart watch and it lacks some of the convenience features like touch screen, onboard music storage, Garmin pay, speaker and microphone and if you are a casual user these features might be more desirable than the robust built quality which also comes with size and heft( 47mm, 87 gms), 2 weeks of battery life, tracking capability of every sport you can imagine on earth as well as Mars (like seriously an overkill)! The Garmin Connect and Connect IQ apps are also pretty amazing and I would recommend looking at the VivoActive series if you want to save some buck, want the conveniences of a smartwatch, don’t want an overkill activity tracker, don’t need a build quality meant to survive a apocalypse but yet want to be able to take advantage of Garmin Connect and Connect IQ. At the time of making this review, this is a 4-year-old watch since the release and is available for 50% of the price at which it was launched ($800). In spite of being dated the performance of the watch is top notch, the accuracy and level of detail of tracking is next to none. Battery life is also incredible and true to its claim. If you are a professional athletic, climber, mountain biker etc. then don't hesitate to buy a Fenix watch they are totally worth it.
Also please note that the video is shot in parts and after using the watch for more than a month, my conclusion is quite different than my initial impression!
