#Agenda | Don't wait for a subpoena

Sen. Risa Hontiveros hopes that the Senate would not reach the point where they need to issue a subpoena to Executive Sec. Vic Rodriguez due to his continued absence in their hearing on the sugar importation mess.

"I hope ES Rodriguez can see it in himself to do the same kasi hindi lang naman Blue Ribbon at Senado naghihintay. 'Yung publiko natin at 'yung buong industriya ng asukal ay naghihitnay ng sagot," Hontiveros says.

"Wag naman sanang hintayin ni ES Rodriguez na ang mga miyembro ng Blue Ribbon, mag-motion to subpoena him to appear before us," Hontiveros adds.

Hontiveros earlier said she wanted to ask Rodriguez more questions about the controversial Sugar Order No. 4, which would have allowed the importation of 300,000 metric tons of sugar.

Rodriguez, however, did not appear at the second Senate hearing because he attended a Cabinet meeting that coincided with the probe.

Meanwhile, Hontiveros says the Procurement Service of the Dept. of Budget and Management has to make a "clean" account before the Blue Ribbon committee after it was previously tagged in the Pharmally scandal and now in "pricey and outdated" laptops in the Dept. of Education.
