This photo challenge was Patterns & Shapes, which are related, but distinct concepts in photography and design:

Shapes are individual, defined forms with clear boundaries, such as circles, triangles, squares, or irregular forms. Shapes are the building blocks of visual compositions, and each shape can stand alone as a focal point or element in a photo. In photography, shapes are often used to create contrast, guide the viewer’s eye, or convey a specific mood based on their form (e.g., circles feel softer, while triangles often convey energy).

Patterns are formed by repeating shapes, lines, textures, or colours. When a shape is repeated consistently, it creates a pattern, which can give a photo a sense of rhythm, movement, or structure. Patterns can be uniform, like a grid of windows on a building, or more organic, like the texture of leaves or ripples in water.
