Before you rent an apartment, make sure you know these 3 things.
1. Get renter’s insurance b/c your landlord’s insurance may not cover your personal belongings. It’s super cheap and it basically covers all of your belongings in case the apartment building floods or catches fire (check your policy though to see what is covered).
2. Check your lease to see what amenities you are paying for. Most of the time, people get places with tons of amenities they don’t even use.
3. Take a final walkthrough, pictures, and recordings of the unit you’ll be moving into before signing the lease. Sometimes the previous tenant’s damages are still there and when you move out, your landlord will charge you through your security deposit.
Hope this helps!
