Video Summary:
If we look at the world today, we often see a lot of suffering. Broken homes, broken relationship, broken dreams. Broken bodies by sickness and diseases. Broken countries torn apart by war, famine, or natural disasters.
And when we take our eyes off the world to look in the mirror, we may see effects of the world’s brokenness breaking us.
Maybe we feel alone, forgotten, undervalued. Perhaps misunderstood, walk out on, used like an object and abused as a person.
Maybe on the outside there is a smile, but on the inside all there is hopelessness, an aching sadness or despair.
And in the midst of all of this hurt, pain and chaos, it is reasonable to ask, God where are you in this?
If you really love me, why is life so hard and seemly unfair.
When life is most difficult, it is the easiest to forget, the truth, that God loves us.
He is not indifferent to our pain and suffering. In fact, He is well acquainted with it.
If we look at the life of Jesus (who was God), we see He suffered much. He was born a little baby, experienced cold, nakedness and hunger. When he was just a child Herod wanted to kill him. His family fled for their lives.
When he grew to be a man, people mocked him, others tried to stone him, his friends walk out on him, one even betrayed him. False charges were brought up against Him, through he had done no wrong.
He was wiped, crowned with thorns, beaten to near death, and forced to carry the instrument for his own execution. Publicly humiliated, he was stripped naked before all, including his own mother and laid down upon a cross.
Nails were driven through his hands and feet. He was hoisted up into the air. As his body sag downward, nails held him upward.
Upon himself he took the sentence of sin and all the brokenness that came with it. The one who was sinless, took upon himself the entire sin of the world.
There Jesus entered into our pain. There he tasted our death.
When you are tempted to think, God knows nothing about suffering, realize this. Everything that Jesus experienced,
every trial, tribulation and his death,
it was all offered for you.
And the next time life offers you a crucifixion, know that you are good company. You will never have to suffer more, than what Jesus already suffered for you.
But the best news of all is this, ever cross has a resurrection. There is a better future in store for you.
The sun will rise on your dark day. When or how, I do not know. But if this dark day, carries you to your last, know then,
your are only one step away from your better future.
Our hope is in Christ and in the power of His resurrection. The promise of eternal happiness is for all those who are his disciples.
Whatever your cross, whatever your struggle,
there is a better future in store for you.
