Elves are magical creatures, pure and gentle. Elves are small, like dwarfs. Fertility is also associated with them.
In honor of them, the Alf-blot, the most sacred Norse ritual, is performed. Small animals or milk or honey will be offered to the elf by the peasants.
Norse mythology says the gods Frey is their king, and they live in Aflheim. Elves were considered as powerful as Asgard gods in the early Viking era.
Sometime, the elves creates a fairy's ring by dancing in a circle. Unhappy people, according to the Norse and Teutons, will die instantaneously if they find themselves in that circle. It is also said that if a human or a god succumbs to elf music, he will be damned to dance until he dies of exhaustion.
