The 5th chapter of our exclusive series “Domus Eyes on Iran” is now online.
Episode 5 picks up on an article published by #Domus magazine in 1980 on the stunning renovation of Tehran’s Glass and Ceramics Museum by Hans Hollein, a prominent Austrian architect. Hollein was able to successfully mix the sophisticated Qajar era mansion and the exquisitely modern interiors he himself designed.
Another important example of Qajar time architecture featured in the episode is the complex hosting the Italian Ambassador’s Residence in Farmanieh, purchased by the Italian government in 1940. The architectural value of the complex’ buildings is enhanced by an impressive garden which occupies 61,750 sqm and represents one of the most important examples of Persian garden still preserved in Tehran.
The series is produced by the Italian Embassy in Tehran in cooperation with Domus Magazine.
