James T. Baker, Jr. was a volunteer at Mid-Continent whose pet project was the museum's Milwaukee Road #988, an American Locomotive Company (ALCO) RSC-2 diesel-electric locomotive. Baker passed away in 2021 and in 2022 his family members directed a large donation from the James T. Baker Living Trust toward the restoration of locomotive #988 with the purpose of making the locomotive operational once again. In this video, Mid-Continent volunteer, B.G. Miller, provides a tour under the 988's hood to James Baker Jr.'s family members, showing some of the work that will be needed. Video provided by Alex Redding.
