- Hi, I'm Maria, the TOOL fox, and I'm going to demonstrate the benchtop wire duct cutter from Phoenix Contact. The cutter provides a safe and easy means of cutting wire duct. Let's get started. The wire duct cutter will require some assembly and mounting when it arrives. You will need to mount the base onto a solid secure surface. Screw in the handle and attach the measuring rail and guide. Please be sure to exercise proper safety precautions when using the wire duct cutter. First, set the measuring guide to the exact length you want the wire duct to be cut. Do this by lining up the right side of the guide with a desired length on the measuring bar. Then secure the guide in place by tightening the screw. The measuring bar uses centimeter increments and will measure raceway up to one meter. Once you've secured the guide, place the end of the duct flush against the guide and slide the other end under the blade. You may have to give a little on an exact measurement due to the finger positioning. With your left hand, hold the duct in place. Please pay close attention to where your hand is in relation to the blade prior to pulling the lever down. The cutter will also cut the covers of the wire duct using the same method.
