A "superfog" in Louisiana led to a pile-up of 158 cars on interstate 55 west of New Orleans, killing seven people and injuring at least 25.
The National Weather Service describes "superfog" as a mixture of smoke and moisture released from damp smouldering organic material, during which visibility is lowered to less than 3 meters.
