A man died in police custody Thursday afternoon in Pleasant Prairie resulting in a critical incident, according to police.

The Pleasant Prairie Police Department said its officers were arresting a man for weapons related offenses near 54th and Sheridan when the incident happened. The man was being taken to the Kenosha County Jail on two charges when police say officers heard a gunshot from the backseat of the squad car.
