In Hong Kong, 43 protesters facing rioting charges have been released on bail. This is the first set of activists to be charged since protests began over two months ago. The defendants are among 49 people arrested in connection with July 28's violent clashes in Central and Western district. This prompted another wave of protests, as hundreds gathered outside Eastern Court on the morning of July 31 to show support for the defendants.
